Welcome

Welcome to the Bishopdale Tennis Club. We are a small friendly club offering tennis at all levels for adults and children all year round. We offer social tennis and for the more serious players club tournaments and interclub.

We are always happy to welcome new members to the club. Come down on Saturdays, try out your tennis and chat with the duty person. Our courts have a plexipave surface and can be played on all year round.

Important Dates 2011/ 2012
  • Summer Season Opening Day 20 August 2010, 1.30pm start. Please bring a plate for afternoon tea. Bring a friend too!
  • Juniors
    • Registration Days: Sunday 28th August 1-3pm, Wednesday 31st August 6.00-7.30pm
    • Junior Opening Day: Saturday 3rd September 9.00am onwards (for details see Junior newsletter and Junior Tennis).
    • Junior Interclub: team entries close 11th September.
  • Seniors:
    • Clean Up for the New Season A task list is pinned up at the club awaiting volunteers to select a job to do. Please help us out. We are very proud of our facilities and know we have one of the best venues around Christchurch. Help us keep it this way.
    • Interclub Team entries: Names to the Club Captain, Robyn Calvert 359 7444 by mid September.
    • Recent News
  • Earthquake Report Our Courts have been moss sprayed to prevent seepage during the winter. Your committee are currently negotiating with our insurers as to repairs and costs of the earthquake damage. Courts are very playable and normal tennis continues on through the winter.
  • The clubrooms have been let out for hire some days mid-week to assist groups in the community displaced through earthquake damage. Please check with the secretary Mary Stanton on 3599815 for availability. Court play will not be effected.
  • Thanks go to First Sovereign Trust for supply a grant for 60 dozen new balls for the upcoming season. This arises out of the sponsorship of Farringtons Tavern so please support them as they do us. Check out their new eatery "Little"

  • We thank Trillian Trust for our new fencing. New gates are waiting to be welded on and this should complete the job. Some of our club funds have contributed to the painting. Many thanks to Sandra for her sterling work on this job and many others who helped with new signage and other bits and pieces.
